Con un aire enrarecido comenzaba la marcha de este 8 de marzo. El lunes 7 de marzo, Magaly Carriel, se convertía en la séptima víctima de la expresión más brutal de la discriminación hacia las mujeres. Nuevamente, una mujer moría en manos de un hombre.
Alrededor de las 19:30 horas partían cerca cincuenta mil personas con carteles y lienzos en sus manos, con los cuales exigían, “basta de femicidios”, “no más violencia”, “ni una menos “, “legalización del aborto”, consignas que encabezaban la multitudinaria marcha del Día Internacional de la Mujer.
Las distintas organizaciones caminaron, entre medio de banderas y cánticos, hasta llegar al escenario, ubicado cerca del metro Los Héroes, donde se realizó el acto de finalización de la convocatoria.
El gran número de manifestantes, da cuenta que una mayor parte de la sociedad chilena reclama y exige, en el espacio público, lugar que resulta mucho más violento para las mujeres, el terminó de las relaciones desiguales de género.

Según la casen 2013:
- La brecha salarial, es de un 27 %. Por ejemplo, si un hombre en un determinado trabajo gana 1 millón de pesos, la mujer en chile por la misma gana alrededor de 700 mil.
- En relación al nivel de pobreza desde el punto de vista de los ingresos: la pobreza en hogares con mujeres jefa de hogar es de 15,4%, mientras que en hogares donde el hombre cumple el mismo rol es de 11,2%.
- Por otro lado la participación en el mercado del trabajo en hombres es de 70,7 v/s 45, 6 de las mujeres y el desempleo en Hombres es de 6,2% v/s 8,2% en En resumen: Mujeres tienen menos participación en el mercado del trabajo que los hombres y mayor desempleo.
- La expresión más brutal de la desigualdad de género se ve reflejada en la violencia hacia las mujeres. Según los datos del Servicio Nacional de la Mujer, 1 de cada 3 mujeres ha vivido agresión sexual, física y psicológica por parte de sus parejas o ex parejas. El año 2014, 40 mujeres fueron víctimas de femicidios, el 2015, 44 y ya el 2016 van 7 mujeres víctimas de la expresión más brutal de la discriminación.
