Organizaciones sociales anuncian jornada de acción nacional contra el TPP y Monsanto
Durante el próximo viernes 22 de enero, una serie de manifestaciones ciudadanas se realizarán a lo largo del país para expresar rechazo hacia la próxima firma del Acuerdo Transpacífico TPP y la eventual vigencia de la Ley Monsanto en Chile.
Cansados del secretismo que ha rodeado la negociación y firma del Acuerdo Transpacífico (TPP), una serie de organizaciones sociales reunidas en torno a la plataforma Chile Mejor Sin TPP y Colectivo Ecológico han convocado a una jornada de acción nacional contra el TPP y Monsanto para este viernes 22 de enero.
El tratado, que la presidenta Michelle Bachelet firmará el próximo 4 de febrero junto a las autoridades de otros 11 países participantes, fue negociado durante cinco años de conversaciones secretas que sólo fueron conocidas por la opinión pública tras las filtraciones de los capítulos realizadas por Wikileaks.
La oposición ciudadana a la suscripción del acuerdo ha crecido en la región y propicia la movilización internacional que durante este viernes realizarán Chile, Perú y Argentina en conjunto. Esto, unidos en la resistencia a las nefastas consecuencias que el TPP tendrá sobre la salud, los Derechos Humanos, la cultura y los derechos digitales, pero compartiendo además un enemigo común: la privatización de la semilla y la amenaza de Monsanto, cuya ley en versión internacional –UPOV91- será ratificada en nuestro país si se aprueba el acuerdo. La iniciativa solidariza, además, con el acampe que un grupo de ambientalistas realiza en Córdoba para bloquear a la transnacional.
Tras la firma que Bachelet realizaría en febrero en Nueva Zelanda, diputados y senadores podrán aprobar o rechazar el tratado en el Parlamento sin posibilidad de modificación alguna. En este escenario, y con el objetivo de exigir el rechazo de los parlamentarios al acuerdo, diversas organizaciones sociales se manifestarán en las ciudades de Santiago, Iquique, Concepción, Valdivia, Temuco, Los Ángeles, Puerto Montt, Chiloé, Angol y Chaitén.
AUMENTA LA PRESIÓN HACIA EL PARLAMENTO
“Estas movilizaciones busca impedir la aprobación del TPP por los parlamentarios, porque ya sabemos que la presidenta lo firmará sí o sí en febrero. Este es un tratado que va en desmedro de toda la soberanía de este país y que impone aspectos como la Ley de Obtentores Vegetales (Ley Monsanto), que no ha sido aprobada”, expresó Patricia Núñez, vocera del Colectivo Ecológico.
Por su parte, Paulina Acevedo, miembro del Observatorio Ciudadano y vocera de la plataforma Chile Mejor Sin TPP, señaló que el objetivo es amplificar la denuncia sobre las consecuencias del tratado y hacer escuchar la oposición de las organizaciones sociales en el Parlamento.
“Ahora que viene la etapa legislativa -tras la firma de Bachelet-, buscamos emplazar y promover un pronunciamiento explícito por parte de los parlamentarios hacia la ciudadanía y que eso se manifieste luego en el rechazo a este proyecto tan nefasto para todos y para todas”, recalcó.
