Los socialistas y anarquistas, en diez años de activísima lucha –podría decirse- no han acumulado más opinión que la que tenían al comenzar.
Han derramado sus doctrinas sobre grupos heterogéneos y estos grupos han asentido, pero no se han plegado. Hay en el ambiente vagas simpatías; mas, falta de convencimiento.
Los socialistas y anarquistas, como ayer, están aislados; como ayer se les persigue y se les calumnia, y también como ayer no son comprendidos por la masa.
¿Y por qué? Porque han gastado el tiempo que debían a la lucha, en hablar entre sí, y con esto no han logrado convencerse más, sino mantener un círculo vicioso. Además, están divididos por enemistades personales.
Los antagonismos doctrinarios son lógicos y perfectamente justificados; pero las desavenencias personales solo acusan falta de tolerancia y de prudencia.
Si esta regla de conducta continúa llegará un momento en que habrán desaparecido como fuerzas ideológicas: el socialismo y anarquismo.
Hasta ahora, muchos convencidos han olvidado su convencimiento y muchos entusiastas han perdido su entusiasmo.
Naturalmente, estos antagonismos solo aprovechan a la burguesía, que se hace más fuerte y más poderosa.
Y sin embargo, socialistas y anarquistas aspiran a la felicidad del pueblo; para alcanzar este fin, cuentan con medios y formas diferentes; pero algunos medios servirán a unos y a otros para obrar conjuntamente. Uno de ellos sería el sindicalismo.
En este instante de desquiciamiento, de renovación universal, los hombres que viven para el futuro deberían proyectar sus ideas sobre la parte viva del pueblo: el proletariado.
Quizás, el minuto de la transmutación de los valores esté cercano. (Esto nunca se puede precisar del todo). Y si así fuera, sería atrozmente desagradable tener que constatar que en esta región nada es transmutable por falta de preparación; pero, como ninguna certeza tenemos, aún sería tiempo de que socialistas y anarquistas se sumaran a sus gremios respectivos, y empezaran a unir, fortificar y orientar la lucha proletaria.
En los sindicatos y en las federaciones hay mucho trabajo que realizar.
Los recientes movimientos huelguistas han carecido de impulsión y han demostrado que las fuerzas proletarias son inconsistentes, y lo peor es que no se esgrimen bien.
El proletariado todavía no conoce sus armas, y por eso el partido que saca de ellas es casi nulo.
Ustedes, compañeros socialistas y anarquistas, podrían unir estas dos fuerzas, disciplinarlas y hacerlas aptas para que sus movimientos fueran siempre triunfales.
